Before you submit
A rough idea of where your book lands helps you pick the right tier โ and keeps expectations honest. These are real CGC-slabbed examples of each grade.

The sharpest a modern book gets โ flat, clean, tight spine. Maybe one flaw you'd never notice holding it.

Still gorgeous โ one or two tiny honest flaws like a faint spine tick or slightly blunted corner.

Very nice copy with a few visible-but-minor defects โ a couple of spine ticks, light corner wear.

Clearly handled but strong โ spine stress, blunted corners, maybe a light crease that doesn't break color.

A reader's copy with real wear โ heavier spine stress, color-breaking ticks, rounded corners.

Well-loved books โ creases that break color, bigger stains, spine roll. Worth owning at the right price.
Questions
Every slot is CGC's full grading fee for the tier plus our service fee โ no hidden markups. The service fee drops the more books you submit: $40 for one book, $35 each for 2โ4, $30 each for 5โ9, and $25 each for 10+. VIP members save an extra 5โ15% on top of that. Normally, shipping is charged at checkout both ways: the prepaid label for mailing your book to us (we email it to you after checkout), and return shipping for your graded slab.
No. Keyframe Co is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Certified Guaranty Company (CGC). We're a submitter โ we handle the logistics of getting your book graded.
Never โ no honest submitter can promise a grade. CGC grades independently. What we guarantee is careful handling: your book is inspected, packed properly, and submitted correctly.
Pack carefully for the trip to us โ the prepaid label we email you includes tracking, but transit damage is the sender's risk, so use adequate packaging and consider insurance on valuable books. Once your book is in our hands, it's handled with the same care as our own inventory. The intake form has you photograph your book before it mails โ front, back, spine, and all four corners โ so its condition is on record before it ships.
Turnaround times are set by CGC's queue, not us. The estimates on each tier are CGC's current guidance โ they can run long when CGC is backed up. We'll keep your submission status updated in your account the whole way.
Rare, but it happens (restoration questions, oversized books, etc.). If CGC won't grade it, we return the book to you and refund the CGC grading fee portion. The service fee covers our handling and is non-refundable once submitted.
Only books signed in front of a CGC-authorized witness qualify for Signature Series (yellow label). We don't offer witnessing โ if your book wasn't witnessed, it'll grade as a qualified/green label at best. Ask us before submitting a signed book.
